Town Higher secondary School was actually started as a primary school in the year 1864 donated by Mr. Martin, a Head constable in retirmant. Some of the past Builders of the institution were Ragunathaswami Rao a generous man and Rau Bahadhur. Shri. The foundation of the school was provided through a massive piece of land donated by a respected landlord P. Thambusamy Mudhaliyar for a very nominal charges. The Latting Base of the main building was laid in 1881 and with the guidance of Thambusamy Mudhaliyar the school expanded. Dr. Duncan himself, officially opened the completed building when he was the Director of School Education in the year 1892. From that time onwards, Town Higher Secondary School has remained a model education institution of the society with its reach felt in the lives of people throughout the area. It has also progressively developed and expanded and has been in a position to produce quality education to generations. It has a long-history and has been able to produce good result thus has been of great value in the region.
