Swami Vivekanand Vidyalaya
Swami Vivekanand Vidyalaya was founded in 1964 as a split up of like-named schools which was started in 1963 to celebrate the birth centenary of the great saint, Swami Vivekananda. It was confined to a few students in Gangapur which was situated in the ashram of Shrimad Jagatguru Shankaracharya Kurtakoti, an English medium school. In the same year to promote the education in English medium the new branch of the primary department of the English medium school was started at Sunday Peth. Further development in the institution was in 1970 when it added an English medium secondary school at Panchavati. The very next year in 1971, a new school that was affiliated with the Marathi medium was started in Panchavati. The process of expansion remained uninterrupted, and the school opened a Marathi medium school in the Indiranagar part in 1984, although it has shifted to a new magnificent building with an adequate play area. In 1986 another Marathi medium school was started at Morwadi now located in a stately building housing all modem facilities. Over several decades, Swami Vivekanand Vidyalaya has expanded and incorporated both the English and Marathi media for students’ additional educational concerns.
