The St. Clare’s Senior Secondary School is named after Clare of Assisi an important personality in the history of Christianity. Raised in a noble family, Clare from childhood paid much attention to prayer and other spiritual things, her mother, Ortolana, was an example for her as she personally went for pilgrimages to Christian holy places. CLARE become a saint at the early age of 18 her life directions change for the better and she embraced the teaching of St. Francis of Assisi. With this message and being inclined by the call of God, Clare agreed to give herself a totally religious life. She left home on Palm Sunday, turned down marriage to a man, and went to Francis, who received her into The Order. Following the lead of her advisor Francis, Clare chose a life of destitute, austerity and prayer. Carefully she changed from the life of glamour and wealth and took up the role of a nun wearing a black robe with a veil to signify servitude to God as well as to fellow mankind.
