St Anthonys High School

St. Anthony’s High School, founded in 1922, carries a history in its broad chest which gives the credit of its formation to Mother Alberte, the Provincial of North India who wanted and felt the necessity of a sound education infrastructure in Bombay. It was formally opened on November 11, 1922, by the Provincial who paid a visit to Archbishop Alban Goodier, SJ who graciously received the sisters to embark on their apostolate within his archdiocese. First, the school’s focus was on underprivileged children and the vision was initiated with a small orphanage for Mahar babies in 1923, which was later extended to Mangaloreans, Goans, and the Anglo-Indian community. In addition to the orphanage, there was a school for Mahar children from the very start, attending which, children receive education and can build a better future for themselves. St. Anthony’s went through changes in their course of developing into a magnificent high school. they received a Grant-in-aid and function under the Maharashtra Education Department. Now, the school aspires to multiracial students from Catholic Schools, Jain Schools, Hindu Schools, and predominantly Muslim Schools aiming at developing personality and uplifting the standard of living of families and children through education.
