However, it was even earlier that the roots of the given school are to be found, and it is quite an interesting story when the institution started fr smugg from a very small beginning and gradually emerged as a significant center. Holy Cross is a premier educational institution which is a product of the educational Ministries of the Holy Cross Fathers and Brothers of the Canadian Mission, the arch diocese of Shillong and the Government of Meghalaya. Given these indications, the school adopted English medium in 1966 to cater for the needs of the growing community with laid down foundation to its present status. Subsequently, with the passage of five decades Holy Cross has emerged as a special landmark in education in the town of Silchar. Beginning from 150 students MGS has grown into a leading light of the intellectual and spiritual growth of education nearly two thousand students today. Its goal involves the transmission of moral/ethical and intellectual values; producing responsible citizens of the nation.
