Hem Sheela Model School in Durgapur, West Bengal is shown to be a manifestation of the dreams provided by Late Hemchandra Roy and Late Sheelabati Roy. Their dream to set up a school was enlightening the children – Late Sri Goswamidas Roy, Sri Dwijapada Roy, Dr. Rabindra Nath Roy, Sri Lakshmi Narayan Roy, Smt Urmilla Konar, Smt Sulakshna Konar, and Smt Satyarani Roy. However, in the Year 1988 Dr. Rabindra Nath Roy and his wife Dr. (Mrs. ) Protima K. Roy a Professor of Science and Education at Drury University USA gave a major direction to this vision. At the insistence of their siblings they came up with the formation of the Hemchandra Sheelabati Memorial Educational Trust. On this trust, Hem Sheela Model School was founded. It is regarding this that the passage fails to shed any light on what the school currently offers, or what the educational attitude is. However, the spirit that is reflected by the dedication of founders and by the collaborative nature of the institution imply the focus on quality education and on the vision of the institution’s founders.
