https://gtbatsk.com/In the year 1991 a humble effort was made to open an English Medium School under the name and style Guru Teg Bahadur Academy, Tinsukia, to impart high standard of school education to the children of theTov't!' irrespective of caste and creed, religion or community based upon the noble Teachings of our 9rh Guru, Guru Teg Bahadur Sahibji, who made the supreme sacrifice of his life for the cause of the poor and the downtrodden people of our country. Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib was the ninth Guru in succession to Guru Nanak Sahib. He was born on 1st April 1621 (5th September 1678 according to Vikram Era), to father Guru Hargobind Sahib. At the time of his birth, his father felt that he possessed 'Deg' and 'Teg' (Valour) and therefore. named him Teg Bahadur. He predicted that he would shine in future life and be a great and grand person. Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib during his visit to Bihar, Bengal also visited Assam and at Dhubri he brought the fighting armies of Mughal and Ahom to peace, where Gurudwara Dhubri Sahibji stands on the bank of river Brahmaputra. During the reign of Aurangzeb Hindus were being forcibly converted to Islam.
