D.A.V. Lakhisarai came into existence in May 2002 in collaboration with Balika Vidyapith. The admission process for the first session began in the same year. At the outset,the school was all set to educate the girls only. D.A.V. took over the charge of Balika Vidyapith along with its infrastructure. In the first year, the school had a students’ strength of 102 boarders and 10 Day-scholars studying from Std I to XII. A team of 50 well-qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers and 8 non-teaching staff were handed over to DAV Management. As the name indicates ‘Balika’ this initiative was taken by late N.D.Grover to encourage the efforts of educating girl child.In light of tremendous pressure from parents,in the year 2004 the school turned out to be independent full-fledged co-educational institution running Classes from LKG to XII. The school finally shifted to its own campus in the year 2008. The school got affiliated to C.B.S.E up to secondary level in the year 2009. The school has been standing as a center of excellence in Lakhisarai, and its long voyage spanning over a decade, has been producing excellent students and citizens for the country.
