The DAV institutions are gifts received from the Arya Samaj which is a reformed society which was formed by Swami Dayanand Saraswati in the year 1875. Wanting to produce balanced and harmonious human resource in the future India citizens, the Arya Samaj opened the first school in Lahore in 1886. This school was christened Dayanand Anglo Vedic School, was run by Mahatma Hansraj as the first principal without accepting any emolument. Many DAV Schools have been set up with an aim of spreading Vedic culture and patriotism among the students. Kindergartens offer proper conditions for children’s multiple development, paying much attention to character and intelligence. DAV education is incomplete without the imbibing of the ethos of ‘Indianness’ in the students making them honorable and culturally spirited. BR DAV takes forward this tradition and enables students to receive value based quality education which maintains balance of bookish knowledge and moral and cultural values so they could become responsible enlightened citizens of the country.
