Bengali Education Societys School And Junior College
Bengali Education Society’s School and Junior College is one of the esteemed institutions that was established in 1933 at Parel Mumbai earlier the name of the institution was Anglo Bengali School. It was established by some of the influential Bengalis residing in the city envisioning education for Bengali kids in the city. , Shri Biren Sen and Smt. Sisir Kana Sen acted very instrumental in the early formation of the school and are referred to as the founding parents of this institution. Preparatory department of the school started in 1931 with six children and shifted to this place in 1940. Bengali Education Society was established in the year 1938 and few people of that time like Mr. Justice K. C. Sen and Mr. S. C. Banerjee actively participated in the development. A Bengali medium school initially this was converted into an English medium school in late 60s but Bengali was taught as a subject. The school has strong academic status and continues the tradition to celebrate Saraswati Puja, that belongs to cultural tradition. However, it was initially established as a school for Bengali ethnic group alone, but students of all ethnicity are admitted now, which makes it multicultural.
